Organizing Things In WindowsIf our lives are not organized, we are frequently lost. Ever save a picture or a file and can't find it? We all have at one time or another. We avoid most of the hunting by organizing things into groups. So lets see how we do it in Windows. There are a number of things that need organizing. Menus, documents, pictures, addresses, favorites, etc. Lets start with the easiest one: Menus. Most menus can be rearranged by using drag and drop. I prefer to use right drag to avoid errors. In most menus, you can right click & select Sort By Name to put the list in alphabetical order. Next lets look at documents and pictures. If you have a long list of items all in one folder, it becomes cumbersome to find anything. Consider using sub groups. Right click in any folder & choose New. Type a name for the new folder. Then drag items in that category into that new folder. Repeat for all the categories you use. Favorites can get messy. lets clean them up. See these pages for instructions: http://www.barrett.net/bookmarks.htm Lastly if you have an address book of e-mail addresses with more than about 20 names, we might want to organize it also. Categorize it by category of friends, family business, geeks, etc |
