Are you using IE8 or 9? First question is - "Where did my menu bar go?" Your default IE may look like this:
By default (you know what that is don't you?), the menu bar is not displayed. OK, so what is the menu bar? This is the
menu bar: So now how do we get it to display: Move your mouse pointer into any area of the menus and right click. You should get a menu like this:
Yours may or may not have the same selections. These will vary depending on what add ons you have. As you notice I use the Yahoo and AVG toolbars. In order to turn on the menu bar just click it. The selection menu will disappear and your menu bar will now be displayed. You can repeat the process to see that it now has a check mark. Obviously you can now decide what else to turn on or off. Here is the way my menus display.
You will notice
that I do not display the Microsoft Live Search Toolbar. Next, note that you probably have the "Lock the Toolbars" checked. This is not a new function to IE but it is a function you need to understand. If it is not checked, the menus can be moved. In some programs like MSWord, they can even made to "Float". If you have never experienced this effect, be aware that it can make a mess quickly and difficult to get back where you want it. If you're gutsy and want to try it, here's what happens: First uncheck the Lock. Then note that your menus have a resizing bar at the left of each menu. The vertical dotted line that now is displayed is the control handle. To move a menu, hold your mouse pointer over the dotted line; hold the left button down and drag the menu. NOTE: If you don't want it where you are dragging it to, DO NOT LET GO- TOUCH "THE ESC" KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD. If you let go, you will have to try to put it back. This is the way i like mine placed.
Check back for more later.
