Alternatives to Windows revised 3-17-12

Windows is not the only game in town. There are alternatives.

There is an alternative to Microsoft Windows. It is built on the Linux OS and is now Xandros. It is a $99 program but will run on older computers. The specs are much lower.

The Linux platform OS is available from other places such as Red Hat

As of march 2012, Walmart carried a Linux based desktop computer made by Acer.

And of course you can have one custom built by various companies like this one with any OS you want.

Of course there is the other alternative called Mac, but expect to pay a lot more. Simple, works well, but costly.
