I won't attempt to discuss Windows 7 in detail.
There are thousands of sites doing that already.
However there are a couple of things that are worth talking about.

Special Note: As of this writing (Nov 2009), Microsoft has released Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8. 2012- Windows is still 7 with 8 on the horizon. IE is now 9
Most of the tips on this site still work with them. The appearance is different and there are new features. If you purchase a new computer with Windows 7 on it and have questions, feel free to write me or just search the web for Windows 7. There is tons of info out there.
As of January 2010, I now have Windows 7 and have included some comments on it. I have also set up some new computers with it. It's now 2011 & I'm still happy with Windows 7. In 2012, I'm still happy except for one item- Win 7 does not support internal floppies.
If you are still using XP, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND BUY THE UPGRADE to Windows 7 without checking the minimum requirements first. Most existing computers will not run it well. Just wait until you need a new one & get one with Windows 7 on it. You can buy a new one with an LCD monitor for around $400, so as I have said before, by the time you add memory and a new hard drive, you still have an older computer and have spent a large part of the cost of a new system. If you just want to blow the money on your old system, look at the requirements for Windows 7. Be aware that there are multiple versions & each has minimum requirements. Not everybody agrees what the minimum is, so err on the side of caution. Search the web for Windows 7 requirements.

Also you CANNOT upgrade from XP to Windows 7. You must save everything, format the drive & load 7 as a new install. I just upgraded from Vista to 7 & it worked flawlessly. I have been doing upgrades since Windows first arrived on the scene & this was the first time I did not have to go in and get the drivers to make everything work.

In 2012, I have ugraded all my computers to Windows 7 (except a couple of old ones). The ones that had XP took many hours of reloading the programs, reactivating and putting the files back. Now they all run much smoother and faster and talk to each other on the network with ease. See this page for more comments.
